Sensors Adapted for Automating Tasks in Beef and Sheep Slaughter
نویسندگان
چکیده
Food Science Australia (FSA) has been developing sensing systems that are suitable for use in automating tasks commonly seen in Australian beef and sheep processing plants. This paper shows some of the imaging and profiling technologies and the issues encountered in implementing these systems in operating plants. Combining the sensing systems with tools or end effectors on robots that can assist in the sensing for some tasks is also discussed.

Automated Sheep Brisket Cutting
Food Science Australia has been developing sensing systems that are suitable for use in automating tasks commonly seen in Australian meat processing plants. This paper discusses the process of automating the sheep brisket cutting task. The prototype automated system was defined and developed and a standard manual brisket cutter was adapted to an ABB industrial robot for demonstration to industr...
متن کاملA study of the foodborne pathogens: Campylobacter, Listeria and Yersinia, in faeces from slaughter-age cattle and sheep in Australia.
In a study of faeces from 475 slaughter-age cattle and sheep from 19 herds or flocks, Campylobacter species (C. jejuni and C. coli) were cultured from all production systems studied and from 73.7 per cent (14/19) of herds or flocks. Within individual properties there was a higher prevalence in cattle than in sheep, with Campylobacter being most commonly isolated from feedlot cattle. The median ...
متن کاملEscherichia coli O157:H7/NM prevalence in raw beef, camel, sheep, goat, and water buffalo meat in Fars and Khuzestan provinces, Iran
Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) of the O157:H7 serotype is a worldwide zoonotic pathogen responsible for the majority of severe cases of human EHEC disease. The aim of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of E. coli O157: H7/NM in raw meat samples from two provinces of Iran. During a period from March 2010 to March 2011. Two hundred and ninety five raw meat samples were...
متن کاملMARC Beef Classification System
The development of technologies that could be used by the U.S. beef packing industry to accurately characterize beef for tenderness has been a major focus of this laboratory. Because longissimus comprises a higher proportion of total carcass value than any other muscle and there is more carcassto-carcass tenderness variation in longissimus than any other major beef muscle (Shackelford et al., 1...
متن کاملEvaluation the Impact of Carcass Weight, Age at Slaughter, and Sex on the Chemical Composition of Lamb Meat: The Case of the Boutsiko Sheep Breed
The effect of carcass weight, age at slaughter and sex on some chemical components was evaluated in twenty-two Boutsiko lambs (twelve females and ten males). Chemical composition of meat was expressed as percentage of fat, protein, collagen and moisture content. Measures of the four chemical components were taken by carcass cuts included shoulder, leg, racks, kidney, rear flank, breast ribs and...
